After completing his undergraduate education at Yale University, Dr. Colin Knight earned his medical degree at the University of Virginia. Following a surgical internship at UVA, Dr. Knight served as a Flight Surgeon in the United States Air Force. In that capacity, he worked as a primary care doctor, occupational and travel medicine specialist, aircraft mishap investigator, human factors consultant, and served on multiple deployments within the United States and overseas. He then completed surgical training at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh and pediatric surgery training at the Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit. Dr. Knight was an attending surgeon at Nicklaus Children's Hospital, where he trained medical students. surgery residents, and pediatric surgery fellows, for over a decade. He now practices at HCA Florida's Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce, Florida. In addition to a faculty appointment at Florida International Unviersity, Dr. Knight serves on national committees for both the American Pediatric Surgery Association and the American Board of Surgery where he is part of a team establishing the future training curriculum for pediatric surgeons. Dr. Knight has performed out-sourced peer reviews for over 15 years and has served as an expert witness for credentialing actions and medical malpractice and criminal cases for both defendants and plaintiffs.
