I have 10 years' experience in Silicon Valley working in the semiconductor and telecom industries. I have worked for large, medium-sized, and startup companies, two of which I co-founded. I have been primarily employed at Rice University since 2008 with title Professor in the Practice (now Distinguished Professor in the Practice). Expert legal consulting experience: (Please note: I have not and will not work with non-practicing entities.) 7 sets of patent cases: 4 federal district court, 2 PTAB IPR petitions, 1 ITC All cases settled or were dismissed. I likely would have been a testifying expert in 5 of the cases. I have professional experience in electronics, circuits, device physics, radio frequency circuits and systems, lasers, optics, fiber optics, embedded coding, semiconductor design, semiconductor manufacturing, internet of things, motor control, and electro-optical systems. I have experience in patent law from the engineering side: I am a co-inventor on more than a dozen patents. have owned the IP portfolio and strategy of one of my startup companies, and provide lectures on patents in my ECE classes. My teaching experience at Rice University includes courses in device physics, circuits, optics, and senior design. The latter course keeps me current in many areas of electrical engineering practice. I have never testified at trial. However, I have won numerous teaching awards at Rice, and I believe I would be persuasive in front of a jury.
