Allen C. Bowling, MD, PhD, is Director of the NeuroHealth Institute and is Clinical Professor of Neurology at the University of Colorado. He has devoted his career to developing evidence-based information about conventional, unconventional, and lifestyle medicine and to creating models for using this information to provide integrative neurological care of those with MS. He has more than 100 lay and professional publications (including five books), has been a principal investigator in more than 20 clinical studies, and has provided consultation or authored publications for many neurological organizations around the world, including the American Academy of Neurology, the National MS Society, and the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF). Dr. Bowling’s general areas of expertise include neurology, multiple sclerosis, alternative medicine, cannabis, dietary supplements, herbal medicine, and pharmacology. He also has specific expertise in taking an evidence-based approach to dozens of unconventional medical therapies, including acupuncture, Ayurveda, chiropractic, craniosacral therapy, dental amalgam removal, meditation, hyperbaric oxygen, magnetic therapy, and yoga. Dr. Bowling is a summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Yale, where he also obtained his MD and a PhD in pharmacology. He completed his neurology residency training at the University of California-San Francisco and his fellowship training at Massachusetts General Hospital-Harvard Medical School.
