Additional Information

I am a board certified ophthalmologist who is fellowship trained in Clinical and Surgical Diseases of the Vitreous and Retina. I spent over 10 years completing my medical and surgical training in Ophthalmology and Vitreo-retinal surgery in the United States. I am presently the only vitreoretinal surgeon in a multispecialty private practice in Chattanooga TN with a referral base from the surrounding 4 states. I received my medical degree from the University of the Philippines. I completed an Ocular Pathology fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute Johns Hopkins Hospital and residency training in Ophthalmology at Boston University Medical Center. I completed a clinical fellowship in Diseases and Surgery of the Retina and Vitreous at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary-Harvard Medical School program, where I was chief retina fellow my second year. I was the medical director of Ophthalmology at the Texas Diabetes Institute (TDI), where I performed thousands of outpatient retinal procedures and hundreds of complex diabetic vitrectomy surgeries. I simultaneously served as the Chief of the Retina Services at UT Health San Antonio for 4 years and coordinated provision of retinal care for 3 clinical sites. I addition, I provided primary coverage for vitreo-retinal emergencies at University Hospital San Antonio. As a result, I'm well versed in the surgical management of ocular trauma and complex retinal detachments. After working at UT Health, I transitioned to a high volume private practice in San Antonio seeing an average of 60-80 patients a day. I was awarded the Clinical Excellence Award by the UT Health Department of Ophthalmology in 2015. The San Antonio Scene Journal has consistently named me one of San Antonio’s Best Doctors in 2013, 2014 and 2016. I was featured on the cover of San Antonio Magazine’s 2020 Top Doctors Issue.
