Andrew Nathanson, MD, FACEP, FAWM I am a Board Certified in Emergency Medicine since 1994, and have an active medical license in RI. I am a Professor emeritus of Emergency Medicine at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University, having worked full-time clinically at 2 at hospitals for the last 33 years. One, a busy urban academic trauma center, the other a community hospital. I attended Ivy league College and am professor at an Ivy league medical school. Over my career I have been: Director of Quality Assurance, Chair of Morbidity and Mortality conference, served on the BOD of my large academic group, led a Medical School course, served on Peer-Review committees for insurance companies, taught hundreds of Emergency Medicine Residents, and been recipient of numerous teaching and research awards. I left full-time clinical practice 2/2026 and currently am editing medical journals, writing medical book chapters and lecturing nationally and internationally on topics related to Marine, Aquatic, and Wilderness Medicine. I am Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and a Fellow in the American College of Emergency Physicians and Academy of Wilderness Medicine. I am the author of over 20 peer-reviewed publications, books, and book chapters. I serve as editor for numerous peer-reviewed journals. I have a special focus of interest on Drowning, Boating/Sailing injuries, Surfing Injuries, and Ocean water sports injuries. Over the years I have chaired numerous courses for the Wilderness Medical Society and the Medical School at Brown University. I serve on national and international committees regarding wilderness medicine and safety-at-sea. I have been serving as a legal expert witness in emergency medicine and marine and aquatic injuries and deaths since 2001, splitting time evenly between plaintiff and defense, with 3-5 cases per year. I have given dozens of depositions and have significant court room experience. Clients have included law firms, insurance companies, Naval Crime Investigative Service (NCIS), City of Chicago, and pharmaceutical companies. I have excellent communication skills and have appeared on Radio, TV, and have been quoted in the New York Times and the LA Times.
