I was born and in Los Angeles, California, and raised in Ohio. I went to college and medical school in Ohio. My post-graduate training took place in Cleveland, Ohio. My wife is a physician, and we have 3 adult daughters, and 1 grandson. I am a board-certified anesthesiologist with three sub-specialty certifications in pain management. My sub-specialty certifications were granted by the American Board of Anesthesiology, American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians, and the World Institute of Pain. Upon certification by the World Institute of Pain I received the title, Fellow Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP). My career comprises numerous diverse roles. Clinically I have evaluated and treated acute and chronic painful conditions in private practice and Veterans Health Administration. I served on the Opioid Safety Initiative Committee for the Veterans Health Administration. I have presented at Grand Rounds as a pathology fellow and pain management physician. I am an Associate Professor at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine serving as a preceptor in Clinical Epidemiology/ Evidence Based Medicine, and clinical skills. I have ongoing service on the North American Spine Society’s Research Committee serving as a section leader for numerous Clinical Guidelines, and Evidence Based Medicine Committee. I was a member of the AMA Physicians Consortium for Performance Improvement, Measurement Advisory Committee. I am currently a member of the CMS, Wisconsin Physician Services, Carrier Advisory Committee.
