Additional Information

I am a California Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner with 18 years of experience in critical care medicine. During my professional career I have experience in neurologic/surgical/trauma intensive care units (ICU) and postoperative anesthesia care units (PACU). My ICU experience has fine-tuned the ability to connect with families/patients/medical personnel and has optimized my critical thinking and decision-making process under stressful and chaotic circumstances. I also have 8 years of experience as an organ procurement coordinator, during which time I've had the privilege of presenting at national level conventions and community events. My audience included doctors, nurses, college students and general interested parties. The past 7 years I have practiced as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the ICU. We are the only Comprehensive Stroke Certified hospital in our county providing world renown care to patients with neurologic and cardiovascular illnesses. This experience has led me to opportunities such as being the chair to a national society committee, working in a competitive academic hospital setting with residents/fellows/attendings and functioning as the primary continuity of patient care in this setting. With 2 campuses and approximately 30 provider staff, I am in charge of provider scheduling/orienting and billing for provider care. Further, I was selected to take part in a rapid process improvement project for the hospital to enhance the radiology department for the University of California Systems. I am active nationally in the Neurocritical Care Society, currently holding the chair position for the Advance Practice Providers (APP) Leadership Committee. I have worked on multiple national level projects for APP education, network/outreach events, and ongoing research.
