Amber O'Malley is a master's prepared RN of 19 years. She has 9 years of specialty practice as a Forensic Nurse Examiner and is board certified as an Advanced Forensic Nurse, Pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, and an Adolescent/Adult Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. She routinely provides and has provided over 650 comprehensive medical forensic examinations on all ages of victims of crime in the areas of non fatal strangulation, domestic violence, sexual assault, and sexual abuse. She has extensive education and experience in every component of the medical and evidentiary care of the assault/abuse patient. She is an expert on the background and lethality of strangulation, mechanisms of manual strangulation of the neck, signs and symptoms of strangulation injury, & medical protocols and interventions. She is an expert on sexual abuse and assault, including anogenital findings and injury with interpretation related to sexual contact, bodily injury in assault, STI and infection prevention, post-assault medical treatment protocols, forensic evidence collection, chain of custody, and forensic photography. She has provided several case consultations, record reviews, and technical reports for attorneys representing all council. She has confidently provided court testimony as both a fact and expert witness in various settings including civil court, criminal court, juvenile court, military court martial, immigration court, and Title IX campus investigation. She is committed to maintaining neutrality and objectivity in clinical practice and on the stand. Her testimony is based on both her clinical experience and the current evidence based science. Amber is confident with public speaking, training, and community education. She serves as an instructor for the local and statewide SANE trainings, is coordinator of the Northwest Arkansas Strangulation Response Team, is a statewide forensic nursing preceptor, and is part of many statewide and local workgroups and task forces.
