Dr. Appel is a licensed clinical psychologist in California with a specialization in forensic psychology. After graduating magna cum laude from New York University, she attended an APA-accredited graduate program in clinical psychology at the Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA. She then completed an APA-accredited internship in clinical and forensic psychology at Saint Elizabeths Hospital in Washington, DC. Dr. Appel subsequently attended a forensic psychology postdoctoral fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) where she received training in criminal and civil forensic evaluations. Dr. Appel is on both the adult and juvenile Los Angeles County Superior Court Expert Panels, and is a Health Sciences Clinical Instructor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Appel has co-authored several peer-reviewed journal articles, and presented at national and international conferences on the topic of forensic psychology.
