Alexa Smith, MD, is a board-certified neurosurgeon with expertise in trauma neurosurgery. Before coming to San Diego and joining the medical staff at Scripps Mercy Hospital, Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and Scripps Memorial Hospital in Encinitas, Dr. Smith served as a pediatric neurosurgeon at the University of California Los Angeles. She has also worked per diem at Kaiser Permanente Zion in San Diego and Kaiser Permanente in Anaheim. She is fellowship trained in the subspecialty of pediatric neurosurgery. She is currently the Chief of Neurosurgery Division and the Vice-Chief of the Surgery Department at Scripps Mercy Hospital.
