Dr. Horne is an experienced neurosurgeon and leader in stereotactic surgery of the brain and spine. He is among a growing number of surgeons in the U.S. pioneering the application of robotic surgery to make spine surgery safer for patients. He was the second neurosurgeon in the U.S. to implement spinal robotics clinically. His skills encompass a broad scope of neurosurgery from brain and spinal tumors to surgery for degenerative spinal conditions. He has specific expertise in cervical spine surgery including cervical disc replacement, minimally invasive surgery, and kyphoplasty. With nearly three decades of experience, Dr. Horne is a highly qualified and skilled neurosurgeon. Integrity, compassion, empathy, and individuality are the pillars of Dr. Horne’s career. He is board-certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He currently holds an academic position in Neurosurgery at the University of Cincinnati and also provides consulting services to the neurosurgical industry, focusing on intraoperative navigation and spinal robotics. He also provides occasional litigation support and follows the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) code of ethics and rules for Neurosurgical Medical/Legal Expert Opinion Services. Dr. Horne received his B.A. in Chemistry at Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1982. In 1987 he completed a Ph.D. in Neuropharmacology at Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana. He graduated with an M.D. degree from Washington University Medical School, St. Louis, Missouri, in 1990. Internship and neurosurgical residency were completed in 1997 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Horne is a fellow of the AANS, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the North American Spine Society. He is a past President and current Board Advisor of the Ohio State Neurosurgical Society.
