Dr. Kiddy is a principle at Aither Forensics Engineering, LLC, a forensics consulting firm located in central Maryland. Dr. Kiddy spent over 20 years in various industries prior to becoming a full-time expert witness providing a broad industry experience base from which to draw extensive knowledge on a wide variety of topics. Dr. Kiddy's work experience includes the oil and gas industry, aircraft and helicopter design, marine structures, wind turbines, and telecommunications. From a technical perspective, Dr. Kiddy has expertise in mechanical design, engineering materials, plumbing/HVAC systems, corrosion, fire origin and cause, codes and standards, and warnings/instructions. From a product design standpoint, Dr. Kiddy's experience includes all aspects of a product life cycle such as early stage R&D, product development and qualification, manufacturing, quality control, and failure analysis. Dr. Kiddy is a registered professional engineer in five states, a certified fire and explosion investigator, and an FAA certified drone pilot. Dr. Kiddy's also has substantial experience in intellectual property matters ranging from invention disclosures, patent writing, patent prosecution, and continuing through IP disputes. Dr. Kiddy has been awarded nine U.S. patents and at one time managed a patent portfolio consisting of over 300 U.S. patents. Further, Dr. Kiddy has provided expert services in Inter Partes Reviews and IP litigation. As an expert witness, Dr. Kiddy has supported dozens of matters including opining on such topics as product liability, heavy/industrial equipment, premise maintenance and liability (e.g. slips, trips, and falls), fire origin and cause, construction defects, and intellectual property.
