Jerald Cook, MD is a physician in the US Navy. He served 13 years in the Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program, onboard fast attack submarines, before commissioning into the Navy Nurse Corps. He then transferred to the Navy Medical Corps and went to medical school at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. Following medical school, he completed an internship in Psychiatry at Naval Medical Center San Diego, and then residency training in Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the University of California at Irvine. He also obtained his MS in Environmental Toxicology from the UC Irvine, School of Medicine. He is dual board certified in the specialties of Occupational Medicine, and in Public Health and General Preventive Medicine. He routinely examines and treat workers with musculoskeletal injuries and those with potential exposures to chemicals, infectious diseases, physical hazards and occupational stress. His work includes routine work site inspections and ones following incidents requiring investigations. He is a recognized expert in disability and making decisions regarding difficult return to work and fitness for work assessments for injured and impaired workers. Dr. Cook is an avid athlete, having completed 10 Ironman triathlons and over 100 marathons. He is a Certified Ironman Coach, and has utilized his passion and knowledge of human physical performance in bringing injured workers back to baseline functioning and beyond.
