As an administrator, I have personally supervised the safe care in and around various procedures and operating room venues for 15 years, totaling approximately 250,000 individual patient encounters. As a Registered Nurse, Operating Room Manager, Director, and Administrator I have extensive experience with regulatory mandates, expertise in national clinical standards, and ensuring best practices in procedural safety culture. I have expertise in: Surgical Standard of Care, Adverse Quality & Safety events, Pre & Postoperative Complications, Procedural Preparation, and Sedation. I completed the Institute of Healthcare Improvement's Patient Safety Executive post-graduate course in 2013 and am currently board certified as an clinical Operating Room Nurse (CNOR). I have done expert consulting, record review and case analysis over the last four years. Approximately 60% of my cases have been for the defendant. None of my cases have gone to trial and I have been deposed on several occasions. My experience includes 17 cases. These include positioning injuries, wrong site surgeries, nursing standard of care review, failure to rescue, neurological injuries, invalid consent, retained surgical items, pain related exacerbation of injuries, and other scenarios. I am an accomplished communicator and public speaker, including a keynote presentation at the 2013 American Society of Perianesthesia Nurses Convention (ASPAN) in Anaheim, Ca.
