John Rheinstein is a board-certified prosthetist in full time clinical practice who has been caring for patients for 30 years with a focus on improving outcomes and helping people with limb loss reach their goals. He received his education in prosthetics from the Northwestern University Medical School Prosthetics & Orthotics Center. He is a Fellow with Distinction of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists and chairs the Academy’s Lower Limb Prosthetic Society. John has specialized experience with complex lower and upper limb amputation patients, immediate postoperative care, and advanced technology prosthetics. He is the co-inventor of a patented post-op prosthesis and is active in research and new product testing. John presents at academic conferences and medical institutions, publishes in textbooks and professional journals, teaches continuing education courses to physicians, therapists, and prosthetists, and trains prosthetic residents. He has a comprehensive understanding of prosthetic care and can explain complex concepts to a wide range of audiences. Since 2004, I have performed IMEs, reviewed medical files, and developed lifetime prosthetic needs and cost analyses in legal matters for both plaintiffs and defendants.
