Dr. Lewis has spent over 12 years researching cognitive neuroscience and engineering psychology, initially working in multiple laboratories at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), where she coordinated research projects on human motor control and erred behavior. She then worked as an associate researcher in the neuropsychology departments of two different hospitals, contributing to studies about the limits of human cognitive abilities in attention and memory. The related issues of cognitive tunneling are regularly demonstrated by individuals whose focus may prevent them from recognizing other salient cues. Dr. Lewis then transitioned to graduate research at Arizona State University (ASU) in the field of engineering psychology, aiming to connect fundamentals from cognitive neuroscience principles towards more applied settings. This includes research geared towards operator behavior in tasks such as driving, piloting, and military operations. Her work has been concentrated ...

I am a senior Human Factors Engineer and Human Systems Integration (HSI) Technical Authority with over 12 years of experience in human-rated aerospace systems, spanning commercial aviation, military programs, unmanned aircraft systems, and NASA human spaceflight. I hold an FAA Private Pilot License with 130+ flight hours, giving me both operational and engineering perspective on aviation human factors issues.
I currently serve as the HSI Technical Authority and Project Manager on NASA's Artemis Program at Northrop Grumman, where I am responsible for all human factors engineering and crew interface design on the Habitation and Logistics Outpost (HALO) module of the Lunar Gateway station. In this role I lead human-in-the-loop test campaigns with astronaut crews in high-fidelity mockups, virtual reality environments, and motion capture facilities. I define crew task sequences, perform task and error analyses, conduct workload assessments using NASA-TLX and Bedford scales, and develop ...
