Asad is a board-certified anesthesiologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, where he specializes in anesthesiology, cardiac anesthesia, critical care and mechanical circulatory support (MCS). He provides perioperative care for patients undergoing complex cardiac surgery, including valve repair and replacement, coronary artery bypass grafting, heart transplantation, and implantation of durable mechanical circulatory support devices including left and right ventricular assist devices (LVAD/RVAD). His clinical and research focus centers on right heart failure diagnosis and management, temporary and durable MCS device selection and optimization, and perioperative hemodynamic monitoring.
