Dr. Alexandra Funk is a board certified clinical toxicologist and licensed pharmacist with experience in toxicology, poison center management, pharmacology, emergency medicine, and hospital pharmacy practice. Dr. Funk regularly consults on toxicology cases in the state of Florida involving drugs of abuse, prescription medications, and over-the-counter medications in persons of all ages. Dr. Funk provides educational opportunities for both healthcare professionals and the lay public. I've been hired as an expert witness by 12 attorneys to review cases ranging from pharmacist dispensing incorrect medications to assessing the appropriateness of medications based on patient factors. I have over 30 years' experience as an academician, teaching in 6 Colleges of Pharmacy during this timeframe, where I have educated and continue to educate future pharmacists on their roles as patient care providers, and the importance of addressing both safety and efficacy of medications.
