Dr. Spiegl received his orthopaedic training at Duke. He then did a fellowship in foot and ankle medicine and surgery at the Mayo Clinic, He was the first foot and ankle fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon in Georgia when he began his practice in 1983. This gave him the opportunity to evaluate and/or treat a wide range of unusual and complicated foot and ankle conditions. He practiced on the campus of Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital for over 40 years, so he has had personal long-term follow-up of the patients for whom he has provided care.
Dr. Spiegl obtained his American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery certification in 1986. He re-certified in 1996, 2006 and 2016 and he is on track to recertify in 2025 so that he will be board certified to December 31, 2036. He intends to continue an active clinical and surgical practice through 2028.
