I am an Emergency Medicine (EM) physician and have been practicing EM full-time for over 15 years. I currently work in freestanding Emergency Departments (EDs) in both urban and rural areas, which are EDs not attached to a hospital. I am board certified with the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) and also hold a Fellowship in the Academy of Wilderness Medicine (FAWM) with a specialization on subjects such as hypothermia, frostbite, heat stroke, altitude illness, and animal attacks/envenomations. I am currently a candidate for a Diploma in Dive & Marine Medicine (DiDMM) with a further focus on dive injuries and marine medicine. I earned my medical degree (MD) at the University of Oklahoma and completed my EM residency at the University of Florida - Jacksonville, a designated level 1 trauma center, which is the highest designation for trauma centers for the sickest trauma patients. Board certified in Medical Toxicology in Detroit with years of experience diagnosing and treating poisoned patients in emergency, intensive care, inpatient and outpatient settings. Extensive experience with forensic toxicology, interpretation of laboratory results, and analysis of post-mortem charts with reporting to the National Poison Data System. Experience with inhaled toxins, acute lung injury, drug overdose, withdrawal syndromes of all types, carbon monoxide poisoning, drug interactions, medication adverse reactions, toxidromes, heavy metal poisoning, spider bites, envenomations, and many others. Strong history of education and experience in writing and public speaking.
