Dr. Carolyn Carman has over 30 years of experience in comprehensive eye care for all ages and specializing in visual impairment due to ocular injury, ocular disease, or brain injury. She has been involved in expert witness testimony for over 20 years and serves both plantiff and defense counsel. She is a residency-certified, licensed, practicing Therapeutic Optometrist and Glaucoma Specialist in Texas. Dr. Carman is presently the Director of the University of Houston Center for Sight Enhancement and is a Clinical Professor in the College of Optometry, specializing in low vision and visual impairment.
Dr. Carman is the former Chair of the Texas Optometry Board after receiving 2 Texas Governor appointments. I have been a practicing comprehensive ophthalmologist and specialized vitreoretinal surgeon since 1996. While serving as Assistant Clinical Professor at Texas Tech University, I gained extensive expertise in managing complicated eye disorders, ocular surgical complications, eye trauma, and eye infections. I have utilized my clinical experience in work as a QA/UR reviewer for many carriers as well as in reviewing and being both a defense and plaintiff expert witness for ophthalmology malpractice and personal injury cases.
