My educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from John’s Hopkins University, doctor of medicine from the State University of New York, Syracuse, emergency medicine training in Morristown, NJ, and medical toxicology with Emory University and the CDC in Atlanta, GA. I am board certified in both emergency medicine and medical toxicology. Publications include multiple peer reviewed articles on numerous toxicology subjects, including in journals such as Annals of Emergency Medicine, Clinical Toxicology, Journal of Medical Toxicology, and Journal of Emergency Medicine. My practice includes over 20 years of experience in emergency medicine, and toxicology is an integral piece of this practice. Patrick Filkins, PharmD, BCPS, DABAT obtained a BS in Biochemistry at SUNY Old Westbury and a Doctorate of Pharmacy at the University of Saint Joseph School of Pharmacy and Physician Assistant studies. Following pharmacy school he completed residency at Grady Memorial Health System in Atlanta, Georgia and subsequently a clinical toxicology fellowship at the Georgia Poison Center. He is currently board-certified in toxicology (DABAT) and pharmacotherapy (BCPS). He is a practicing clinical toxicologist at the Georgia Poison Center, emergency medicine clinical pharmacist at Grady Memorial Health System, and an adjunct instructor of emergency medicine at Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine.
