I have been doing expert witness work for approximately 11 years. To date, I have participated in over 40 cases and have been deposed twice in the last four years. I enjoy participating as an expert witness for numerous reasons but two reasons stand out to me. The first is that I enjoy teaching. I teach also as a member of a speaker bureau in another role where I educate other physicians about diabetes and diabetes treatment options. As an expert witness, I teach by carefully and clearly explaining to my audience, the nuances of certain disease states and standards of care in my field. The second reason I enjoy expert witness work is that I feel it makes me a better physician.
