My practice is limited to colon and rectal surgery, including Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis and colon and rectal cancer. I have extensive expertise in proctology and anorectal surgery, including hemorrhoidal disease, anal fistulae, fecal incontinence, and have a busy colonoscopy practice. I have experience dealing with many different types of complications related to colorectal surgery, such as abscesses, leaks, and perforations. I have additional expertise in the field of inherited cancers, particularly inherited colon and rectal cancers. Genetic testing is an integral part of my practice and while that is mainly gastrointestinal cancers, I have experience with the genetics of many other inherited cancer syndromes, including breast, ovarian, and uterine cancer syndromes. Dr Katz brings 9 years of surgical training and 20 years of surgical practice to the care of patients with colorectal diseases. He practices robotic, laparoscopic and open abdominal surgery, and anorectal surgery. He is Medical Director of the Wound Ostomy Clinic at St. Francis Hospital, where he cares for patients with ileostomy and colostomy issues.
