Have worked continuously since 1971 in the automotive electronics field in multiple areas: Research & Development, applied engineering, product and manufacturing engineering, expert witness. Have worked in the laboratory inventing (three patents) and creating new sensors & coatings for automotive use, led small and large engineering groups & Departments, led technical R&D Division. Have worked for a vehicle manufacturer, captive suppliers, independent supplier, and for eighteen years as an independent automotive electronic consultant working directly with automotive suppliers. Fields we have worked directly in or supervised include: sensor creation & fabrication, coating technique invention for high volume production, automotive specific head up displays, flat panel displays, instrument clusters, navigation systems, telematics systems, forward looking radar & camera systems for detection, warning, and avoidance, object detection for vehicle sides and rear backup, night vision systems, solid state YAW sensors, advanced airbag electronics and sensors, advanced audio systems, advanced and production engine control systems, stability control systems, anti-skid braking systems, and other complex safety systems. Have worked on twenty expert witness cases since 2005, most of them in the last five years. Have worked on IPRs and District Court cases, supporting both defendants and plaintiffs, writing reports, reviewing and finding appropriate prior art, supporting nine depositions and one Court testimony offered in a Markman hearing. Have given and presented a variety of papers and presentations in my field over the last four decades, some of these were invited keynote presentations. Have not offered any published papers, panels, or presentations since serving as an independent consultant in deference to the NDAs that I have signed. Have also received a variety of awards and recognitions due to technical achievements.
