Award winning pediatric neurologist in active clinical practice. 25+ years of experience as an expert witness. Board certified in pediatric neurology and pediatrics. 25 years of teaching experience including academic appointments at University of Minnesota and Ohio State University. Several years’ experience as a practicing pediatrician prior to training in pediatric neurology. Completed research fellowship in Child Neurology at Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles. Active duty United States Navy 1983-1990, awarded Navy Achievement Medal for work in family and child advocacy. Winner of two different awards for teaching. Deep experience regarding child abuse (clinical, research and expert witness). Extensive public speaking experience including over 100 invited presentations. Research has focused primarily on developmental psychopathology from psychological and physical trauma and brain injury. This has led to a clinical and research interest in autonomic disorders, particularly of children with developmental disabilities. Other research areas of interest are severe self-injury in children with developmental disabilities and autonomic dysregulation in children with neurologic disorders.
