Maher is dual-rated, holding an airline transport pilot certificate for helicopters and a commercial pilot certificate for airplanes and gliders. He has logged over 16,800 hours combined in over 135 different civilian General Aviation aircraft. As a certified flight instructor, Mr. Maher is qualified to teach single and multi-engine airplane, helicopter, and instrument. His flying experience includes: 24 years as a Helicopter EMS pilot; Providing contract single and multi-engine airplane, and helicopter pilot-in-command and instructor-pilot services to corporate and personal aircraft owning clients; Sales, marketing, training, and management positions with a number of airframe manufacturers; Over 40 years of General Aviation sales, type-specific training, & operational experience. Owner/operator of over 30 aircraft since 1974 including single and twin-engine airplanes, and three helicopters. Present aircraft is a twin-engine Cessna 310. The founder and president of Lanier Media, (Established 1978) specializing in aviation safety and training multimedia productions. Mr. Maher has written & produced numerous award-winning video programs (as well as performing as a Lecturer/Platform Instructor) on flight operations, safety, human factors, marketing, and training. He is also an FAA FAASTeam member; conducting FAA approved safety and operational training seminars and proficiency flights. His background, skills and experience, plus being an award-winning aviation photo-journalist and an active flight and platform instructor, means he has the communication skills to convey the necessary case points in an easy to understand manner to clients, panels, and judges.
