I am an academic anesthesiologist, Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and senior faculty member at McMaster University (birthplace of evidence-based medicine). I have cross-border experience and licensure in both Canada and the United States. My practice includes providing anesthesia and perioperative care for general adult surgery, complex spine and neurosurgery, trauma, orthopedics, high-risk obstetrics, regional anesthesia, and ambulatory surgery. I am the former Director of Perioperative Consult Services at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (Nashville, TN) and former Chief of Anesthesia at Hamilton Health Sciences (Hamilton, ON). I am an award-willing clinical teacher, a direct and effective communicator, and mentor to students and junior physicians. As a healthcare administrator, I have substantive experience in handling patient and family complaints, assessing physician competence, and conducting critical incident and root cause analyses.
