Dr. Allison Sylvetsky is a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences at the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health in Washington D.C. and Director of the Bachelor of Science in Nutrition program. She received her doctorate in nutrition and health sciences at Emory University and completed post-doctoral training in the Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Obesity Branch at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Sylvetsky is a reputable, high-energy, and collaborative nutrition scientist with extensive research, teaching, grant writing, and publication experience and has published 66 peer-reviewed manuscripts in high-impact journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine and the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Dr. Sylvetsky is nationally and internationally recognized for subject matter expertise in the areas of obesity, beverage consumption, added sugars, artificial sweeteners, and infant and child nutrition. Dr. Sylvetsky has an independent, externally funded, research portfolio, which encompasses clinical, translational, epidemiological, behavioral, and qualitative studies. She is currently the Principal Investigator of several research projects funded by organizations including the National Institutes of Health, the Mid-Atlantic Center for Cardiometabolic Health Equity, and the American Cancer Society. Dr. Sylvetsky excels at identifying, evaluating, and synthesizing scientific literature, and summarizing and communicating research evidence in a variety of written and oral formats. She is well-versed in clearly and concisely communicating research findings broadly related to nutrition to a variety of stakeholders and audiences.
