Additional Information

I specialize in identifying, designing, and providing quality assurance for the restoration, repair, and maintenance of new and existing building structures. I've worked on structures from individual wood-framed homes to very large commercial and multi-family residential projects. I began my career working in the field for a large restoration and repair contractor, moved into materials and product testing of residential and commercial building products, and have spent the majority of my career as a structural engineering consultant with a focus on building envelope. I still enjoy a great deal of time in the field performing hands-on inspections and interacting with Contractors, owners and client representatives, Boards and associations, and various trades. I have been complemented by other professionals including consultants and attorneys on my ability to work with and manage difficult people and situations. While versatile and capable of multi-tasking and maintaining calm and level-headedness, I am hyper-focused when needed on situations and topics at hand to research and understand the details of construction and the requirements for successful performance. I take nothing for granted and always allow for and expect each situation to be different from the one before. I created and started my specialty firm, Building Envelope Consultants and Scientists, LLC (BECS), in 2012 and presently employ approximately 25 engineers, architects, roofing and waterproofing specialists, and building consultants. BECS has projects nationwide and recently opened our laboratory facility in Raleigh, NC that focuses on materials and product testing as well as in situ testing of building products. BECS invests heavily in the best administrative and specialty team members and equipment. We do expect the best and have every desire to lead the building envelope arena. As I prepare for retirement and company transition, my desire is to continue supporting the industry as an expert.
