Jim is the founder, principal and owner of Seven Citadels Consulting, an independent security risk consultancy. He is board certified in security management as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP), and a Certified Threat Manager (CTM). He is an expert witness in areas of premise liability, workplace violence, physical security, and other specialties. Jim was a career officer in the U.S. Air Force and a special agent with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI). During his career he commanded a large AFOSI detachment, was the chief of counterintelligence for Air Force installations in a six-state area, an executive officer with AFOSI in the Republic of Korea, and a wartime plans officer at the AFOSI headquarters in Washington, D.C. He oversaw an intellectual property protection program designed to identify the deliberate or inadvertent disclosure of classified programs and information. Jim was also a certified nuclear weapons convoy commander and shift commander at a large Air Force Base. Following a successful military career, Jim transitioned to the private sector as a corporate security executive. He was the chief security officer for three Fortune 500 companies, and managed the special investigations unit for a large insurance company. In those positions he developed and built successful security programs that adopted best practices to mitigate risk to people, product, and property. Jim is a member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP), the International Association of Professional Security Consultants (IAPSC), the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS), and ASIS International.
