Additional Information

Dr. Michael H. Corcoran was in the law enforcement field for over 34 years beginning in 1968 and the threat assessment field since 1970 when he entered the United States Secret Service. Completing his doctorate in 1979 in Behavioral Science, and utilizing his law enforcement experience, he specializes in identifying and handling potentially violent subjects. This often leads to designing and providing training for workplace violence prevention programs to identify, handle and prevent workplace violence and its precursors. Dr. Corcoran also utilizes his former Secret Service skills in assessing the practicality, need and design of an EP program for organizations as well as trains EP teams on numerous protection techniques. Starting "The Workthreat Group, LLC," in 1988, he works with governmental agencies, cities and counties, law enforcement, Fortune 500 companies, school districts and healthcare providers throughout the United States and Canada, often training to recognize, prevent and/or manage volatile subjects, including the “Active Shooter”. He has spoken and trained internationally on all these topics, co-authored the text: “Violence Assessment & Intervention, The Practitioners Guide”, and provides expert witness testimony on identifying violent individuals. Lastly, Dr. Corcoran was a founding member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals in 1990, serving on the Board of Directors, and was a founding member of Henley-Putnam University, serving as its President from 2001-2011, which specializes in intelligence, terrorism and protection accredited degrees.
