Additional Information

I am triple-board certified in Addiction Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine and General Psychiatry. I serve currently as a Physician Executive and Chief Medical Officer for a residential rehabilitation facility that treats both substance abuse disorders and mental health disorders. I have served as a Harvard Medical School Instructor and Medical Director of a Dual Diagnosis Unit at McLean Hospital, a Harvard affiliate Hospital. I trained at Yale University in Addiction Psychiatry. My areas of expertise include opioid addiction, and I have worked on policies and procedures and have published on the diagnosis and treatment of this disorder, as it relates to the use of Medication Assisted Therapy *(known as MAT) which includes Methadone, Suboxone and Vivitrol. I also have experience working with patients who have chronic pain and addiction and patients who have mental health disorders and addiction, also known as co-occurring or dual diagnoses. I have worked as an inpatient psychiatrist as well, with well over 6 years of inpatient work experience. This experience includes working with seclusion and restraints and suicidal patients who require ongoing close monitoring while on an inpatient locked unit. I have spent over 8 years in the Veterans Health Administration, as both an inpatient psychiatrist, outpatient psychiatrist, and mental health supervisor. I have worked with veterans and nonveterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder extensively and have performed Traumatic Brain Injury exams for compensation and pension evaluations for veterans who are applying for disability and service connection with the VA system. Finally, I have significant experience in education, serving as an instructor with Harvard Medical School, and have taught students, the public and colleagues. I have given many educational talks and have appeared on TV and radio discussing mental health and addiction. I am able to communicate complex topics at an easy to understand level.
