Ana E. Diaz, PE is an engineering consultant with over 37 years of experience performing failure analyses and process improvement. She is fluent in Spanish, certified as a Lean Six-Sigma Master Black Belt, & holds two patents. Ms. Diaz is a licensed Professional Engineer in DE & PA. Currently Ms. Diaz provides metallurgical, failure analysis, expert witness & process improvement consulting services. Ms. Diaz has held positions in the research and manufacturing units of DuPont’s Titanium Technologies, Fluorochemicals, Specialty Chemicals and Corporate Engineering. She was the principal investigator of an oxygen pre-heater failure that sent 11 people to the hospital. Her testimony was instrumental in dismissing claims of negligence against DuPont. In a $6 million property damage subrogation case, she identified fatal flaws in the plaintiff experts’ work, reviewed discovery materials, and developed questions for defense counsel. Ms. Diaz performed the failure analysis of a Dowtherm® vaporizer tube that resulted in a major fire which shut down a nylon plant. Ms. Diaz has provided competitive intelligence and benchmarking of competitors’ products. She has done fitness to operate inspections including high-pressure (6,000 psi) chrome oxide reactors and equipment used for uranium, plutonium & tritium extraction. She was a key engineer in pre-startup inspections for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site L-Reactor. Ms. Diaz is a member of the Law Enforcement & Finance committees of the Delaware Association of Professional Engineers (DAPE) where she received the 2010 Distinguished Service Award. She received DuPont’s Engineering Excellence Award, Specialty Chemicals Technology Award and the Electronic & Communications Technology Quality Excellence Award and numerous other business awards for productivity and cost reduction improvements. Currently Ms. Diaz serves as Adjunct Professor at Widener University’s School of Engineering.
