Companies have included Oxford Healthplans, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Wellpoint, Anthem and Cigna. Responsible for the profit and loss performance of Accountable Care Organizations throughout the country with aggregate system revenue of over $1 billion. Metrics managed included average length of stay, discharge and readmission rates, pharmacy management, comprehensive quality and patient safety, emergency department visits, mental health management, and fraud & abuse by doctors and patients. Developed several systems for the improvement in the efficiency of case management, population health management, physician profiling, patient engagement, patient satisfaction, emergency care, disaster readiness, patient grievance & appeals, and patient safety. Awarded patents for improved system design and effectiveness of patient engagement. Conducted over 5,000 physician credentialing reviews, appeals, and hearings. Directed over 2,000 reviews of committe and in person patient grievances & appeals. Served as an examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, as well as the National Committee for Quality Assurance. Board certified in Internal Medicine, and Emergency Medicine with an MBA & licensure in several states. Fellow of the American College of Physicians, American College of Emergency Physicians, and Royal Society of Medicine. Experienced public speaker with extensive training in media relations. Participated in a Senate Subcommittee testimony on Disaster Preparedness, as well as successful plaintiff and defense work in several states throughout the United States.
