Additional Information

My years of active duty were spent in ship design, construction, operations, and overhaul. This included destroyer type tours as Chief Engineer/Assistant and Repair Officer on a nuclear certified destroyer tender. Two tours were at naval shipyards that overhauled destroyers, aircraft carriers, and nuclear submarines. MIT graduate studies centered on the propulsion systems of ships. RICHMOND CONSULTING GROUP was formed in 1996 as a sole proprietorship with minimal overhead. MOST RECENT ASSIGNMENTS have been providing asbestos exposure analyses for Navy/commercial crews and shipyard workers. Practice has included more than seventy-five cases with law firms nationwide. Engagements include document research and analysis, notarized reports, and preparation for deposition and trial testimony. With a comprehensive understanding of shipboard steam system valves, turbines, piping, and pumps, my first step is to advise client of the extent of the plaintiffs proximity and likely exposure to asbestos products. Provide my overall assessment of the strengths and/or weaknesses of the case. In addition to the analysis of asbestos exposure to specific equipment, I routinely address the supplier and government necessity to provide asbestos warnings to protect personnel from this hazardous substance. GOVERNMENT CONTRACT SUPPORT & CLAIMS. Major Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) procurements, RFPs, contract and design spec writing, and Requests for Equitable Adjustment (REA). Engagements involved U.S. Navy, large corporations, foreign shipping, and USCG. USCG assignment concerned the lead ship in the National Security Cutter (NSC) Class. Litigation involving ship design problems, ship collisions, ship engineering casualties, Navy & cruise ship crew and shipyard worker accidents and fatalities. Clients include numerous law firms nationwide and US Navy, L-3 Corp, Lockheed Martin, US Department of Justice, Honeywell Corp. & Siemens.
