Dr. Jason James is a board certified obstetrician/gynecologist who is the immediate past chief of the department of Ob/Gyn at Baptist Hospital of Miami, having served in that role for the past four years. He now serves as the Secretary/Treasurer of the executive medical staff at Baptist Hospital. As medical director at FemCare Ob-Gyn in Miami, Dr. James’ medical practice is perpetually on the cutting edge of medicine, performing over 90% of all gynecologic procedures utilizing minimally invasive techniques, including the da Vinci robot for major surgery and performing office-based procedures to minimize patient discomfort and recovery. In addition, he is an actively practicing obstetrician, delivering an average of 10-15 babies monthly. Dr. James is currently an author of the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative toolkit on reducing unnecessary cesarean sections. He recently spearheaded an important initiative at Baptist Hospital, forming the OB Hospitalist program which provides a safety net for patients and physicians. He was also instrumental in helping develop the Patient Safety Simulation Lab at Baptist in 2010. Additionally, he is on the Board of Directors of the Dade County Medical Association. Dr. James is considered a key opinion leader on various topics, including birth injury, menopause, contraceptive technology, postpartum depression, umbilical cord blood banking, cancer genetic screening, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, early term deliveries, and nausea and vomiting in pregnancy (NVP). He most recently was the symposium director for the Sanford Cole Memorial Ob/Gyn Symposium and is a sought after speaker and commenter in the national media. He has served as chair of the performance improvement / quality assurance committees and has been involved in expert review, deposition and trial testimony for over 12 years. He has been certified as a medical expert in federal court.
