Joel Feigenheimer PhD., is a 35+ year veteran of the restaurant business. Educated at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration, Dr Feigenheimer enjoyed a successful career in both the corporate and entrepreneurial restaurant segments. Presently he serves as a Restaurant Management Professor at The Chaplin School of Hospitality at Florida International University and holds the NAC Endowed Chair. Class topics focus on profitability management, operator standards of care, and how to develop an operate a food service facility from concept development through opening. In addition, Feigenheimer operates "realEats consulting", a restaurant/hospitality focused consulting firm specializing in sustainability and long term profit planning. His clients include iconic and high end properties in the United States, Europe and Mexico. Dr. Feigenheimer also serves on the Board of the American Fine Wine Competition (AFWC), an organization dedicated to marketing top quality American wines while supporting local charities focused on making direct impact in our community. To date AFWC has funded over $1,000,000 to South Florida charities. Feigenheimer also serves as an Expert Restaurant witness and has experience in issues such as Dram shop/liquor liability, restaurant standards of care, contract issues, landlord/tenant concerns, slip, trip and falls as ell as most other restaurant related issues. A side benefit of his training as a professor, Dr. Feigenheimer is able to relate complex issues to a jury in a logical, clear and passionate manner. His authentic yet down to earth style makes him a favorite of students and strikes that same chord when working with juries. Feigenheimer is a restaurant specialist and his insight as an expert restaurant witness has helped support cases throughout a broad range of issues.
