Robert P. Schifiliti, P.E., FSFPE, is a licensed fire protection engineer, holds a Master of Science degree in Fire Protection Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and is Board Certified in Forensic Engineering by the National Academy of Forensic Engineers (NAFE). He has worked in fire protection and prevention since 1979 and has developed expertise and focused his international practice on the design, analysis, and forensic investigation of fire detection, alarm, and signaling systems. Practice areas include: Fire investigation and failure analysis of fire protection systems; Analysis of existing or proposed buildings, sites and systems; Fire protection and prevention educational seminars and programs; Planning and design of fire prevention and protection systems and Emergency Communications Systems. Mr. Schifiliti is a current member and past chair (2006 – 2016) of the National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code (NFPA 72) Signaling Systems for the Protection of Life and Property Correlating Committee. He is a member of the NFPA 72 Technical Committee on Notification Appliances, which he chaired from 1993 to 2003. Previously he was a member of the Technical Committee on Initiating Devices for Fire Alarm and Signaling Systems and chaired the Task Group on Automatic Detector Spacing. Mr. Schifiliti is also a member of the NFPA Technical Committee on Commissioning and Integrated Testing (NFPA 3 and NFPA 4). He is a past chair of the Fire Protection Research Foundation’s Detection and Alarm Research Council and past chair of the Council’s Research Planning Committee. He is a contributing author to the NFPA 72 Handbook, the Commissioning and Integrated System Testing Handbook, the NFPA Fire Protection Handbook, and past editions of the Life Safety Code Handbook. Mr. Schifiliti has developed and taught several seminars &workshops on fire alarm systems for NFPA.
