Robert Wolf, PE has spent his career as a power and controls engineer in Residential, Commercial, Institutional, Industrial and Utility industries. His career began designing building electrical systems working closely with architects, and it later evolved into heavy industrial substation and control system design - primarily refineries and chemical plants. Recently, he has spent his time working for electric utilities designing both Transmission and Distribution systems, designing protection schemes and investigating events. He has taken special interest in the area of Human Performance Improvement where he strives to understand why incidents occur, and how Human Performance Tools and Techniques can be used to prevent future incidents. He has had special training in various investigatory methods, the two most prominent being an 8-hour NERC Causal Analysis training and the 2-day TapRoot process training. As a Human Performance Improvement Specialist, Robert has facilitated the development of programs and processes for various lines of business, investigated many events suspected of having Human Performance elements, developed and trained employees at Fundamental and Advanced levels, and worked with groups to develop processes to keep their systems Reliable. Robert is active with the North American Transmission Forum (NATF) Human Performance Practices Working Group and the Transmission System Operations Working Group, and he regularly attends various industry conferences and training. In addition to being familiar with American building codes, National Electric Codes, and NFPA Codes, he is also familiar with and had responsibility for compliance for various NERC and CIP standards. Robert is a Senior Member with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a Member of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE).
