More incidents and fewer reports of sexual abuse are the takeaways from DOD’s 2022 annual sexual assault prevention and response report. Military criminal investigations are complex in nature and involve first and foremost the safety and security of the victim and medical attention including a Sexual Assault Nurse Exam (SANE), securing the crime scene, collection of any forensic evidence at both the crime scene and the hospital along with interviews of victims and/or witnesses that Steve is very familiar with.
