He has been in continuous practice as a neurologist since completing a neurology residency and EMG fellowship at Boston University in 1983. He has several board certifications including neurology, pain medicine, sleep medicine, clinical neurophysiology (EMG, EEG), and medical acupuncture. In his private practice as a clinical neurologist, he carried out independent medical examinations for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Industrial Accidents. His neurology, pain medicine, and sleep medicine practice includes the possibility of treatment with medical and auricular acupuncture. He has trained in acupuncture at Harvard Medical School, Boston University School of Medicine, and at the University of Paris XIII Faculty of Medicine. He has lectured on acupuncture extensively in the United States and internationally. He has published articles on acupuncture in medical journals.
