Dr. Oechsel has actively practiced as an Orthopedic Surgeon for over 33 years as a general Orthopedist and continues to do so. He has experience with almost all aspects of this field. Dr. Oechsel can render opinions on many different Orthopedic issues. This allows him to address multiple issues, injuries and problems in any single case, if needed. He prides himself in taking on the most complex cases and understands all the Orthopedic aspects of a case. Reviews, reporting, preparation, and testimony are meticulously detailed. For over twenty years, Dr. Oechsel has performed medical-legal expert witness work including Independent Medical Examinations, Independent Medical Record Reviews, depositions, and testimony. He has participated in over 150 depositions and has testified in about 40 trials. His opinions are well respected, as he continues to be retained by both the Defense and Plaintiff bar. Umut Sarpel, MD, MSc, is a board-certified surgeon who specializes in Surgical Oncology and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery. She received her Bachelor of Science degree with Distinction in Research from the University of Rochester and earned her medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Dr. Sarpel completed her residency in General Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and then pursued an additional two years of fellowship training in the field of Surgical Oncology while attaining a Master of Science in Clinical Research. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the Society of Surgical Oncology. Dr. Sarpel specializes in the care of patients with cancers of the stomach, pancreas, liver, biliary tree, small bowel, and colon, as well as sarcomas. Her practice includes open and robotic surgery.
