Dr. Samakar is a board certified general surgeon and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He completed a Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery Fellowship at Harvard Medical School where he was also a clinical instructor of surgery. He is currently a faculty member of the University of Southern California (USC) Keck School of Medicine where he serves as a full-time surgeon, assistant professor, researcher, and educator. His current and active appointments include Associate Program Director of the Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Program, Director of the Gastroparesis Institute, and the Surgical Quality and Outcomes Officer for the Division of General Surgery. Dr. Samakar holds a Master's degree in Bioethics and Health Law from the University of Pittsburgh and has been active in the study and practice of medical-legal issues for nearly 20 years. He has testified for both plaintiff and defense on multiple occasions with numerous depositions and case reviews.
