I am a board certified OBGYN with over 30 years clinical experience in a teaching institution (the same institution where I was chief resident) in Evanston, IL (outside of Chicago). I am Chief of Gynecology/Womens Health at Northwestern University Student Health Services. I have served on the Perinatal Morbidity and Mortality committee for over 15 years. I have taught and worked with medical students, residents, certified nurse midwives and am the gynecologist at Northwestern University student health. I have served as a medical expert in OBGYN and have reviewed a countless number of cases over the past 10 years. I believe I have a strong attention to detail and am able to explain the complicated nature of medicine in a way that the listener can understand. Jurors have found me to be friendly, honest and credible. I address each case timely and comprehensively. I am available for either plaintiff or defense cases and have attended the SEAK course on Effective Expert Witness.

Clinical focus is on complex pelvic surgeries for the management of endometriosis and pelvic pain. I have performed over 1000 robotic surgeries, delivered over 3000 babies and have served as a surgical proctor for other robotic surgeons. Vast public speaking experience and proven ability to communicate complex topics to the general public through 8 years of hosting a call-in women’s health radio show and subsequent hosting of two women’s heath podcasts.

Dr. Nur Afreen Afsar is a Board Certified OBGYN by American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology and a Certified Laparoscopic Surgeon by the Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery Program. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, a highly selective accelerated medical program in NYC, and obtained her medical degree from New York Medical College. She then completed her OBGYN Residency and OBGYN Hospitalist Fellowship from NYU Langone Long Island. In residency, she received numerous awards including the Most Outstanding Resident in Minimally Invasive Laparoscopic Surgery. She also served on the Quality Improvement Committee reviewing and presenting cases to the board monthly. She is practicing with a State Medical License in New York City where she is active in working with and teaching physician assistants, residents and medical students.
