Sokolow is an expert on Title IX, school and college sexual misconduct, harassment, gender discrimination, hazing and campus safety. Sokolow is the author of eleven books and more than fifty articles, including peer-reviewed journals. He is the Executive Director and past founding president of the National Behavioral Intervention Team Association. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the Council on Law in Higher Education.
