Dr Mittal is a Pediatric Hematologist Oncologist and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Rush University Medical Center since 2015. She sees patients with all types of pediatric cancers including leukemia, lymphoma, solid cancers and brain tumors as well as benign hematologic conditions. She sees these patients in clinic, infusion room settings for administration of chemotherapy and transfusions and admitted to inpatient floor. She leads and is a co-investigator for various oncology and hematology clinical trials. She leads the Adolescent and Young Adult oncology and AYA Sarcoma programs Notably, she co-established and currently co-directs the Rush AYA Sarcoma Program, and the Musculoskeletal Oncology Service line at Rush Cancer Center. She developed and continues to lead the Pediatric Oncology Survivorship clinic at Rush. Her achievements extend to national and international recognition, with leadership roles in the Children's oncology group (COG) AYA RI Network and various national committees. She has spearheaded initiatives addressing AYA oncology disparities and improving clinical trial enrollment, resulting in numerous publications and presentations at esteemed conferences. Her current focus includes research efforts on understanding genetic predisposition to cancer in AYA oncology patients and study disparities in AYA clinical trial accrual. This area is a largely under investigated area.
