Jane Alexandra Kessler earned her Bachelor of Science (Sc.B.) degree at Brown University, graduating summa cum laude. She received her M.A. in clinical psychology from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), completing predoctoral internships at the University of Michigan's Psychological Clinic and at the Detroit Psychiatric Institute (DPI) on the Children’s Inpatient Service. Later, she was a staff psychologist and clinical supervisor on the Children’s Inpatient Service at DPI. She worked for the Family Division of Michigan’s Sixth Circuit Court as well as the Juvenile Court in Wayne County, MI, evaluating children and families in child custody matters and abuse/neglect proceedings. As a psychology professor at Madonna University (Livonia, MI) for over 20 years, she served as the Director of the University’s graduate program in clinical psychology and the campus training clinic. Additionally, she was the Director and Senior Psychologist at the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute’s Treatment Clinic. Currently, she is in private practice in Huntington Woods, MI. She treats children, adolescents and adults, and performs forensic assessments in a range of civil matters, including claims of psychological injury and child custody disputes. When providing expert witness testimony and case consultation in forensic matters, she is known for her ability to explain complex technical issues in ways that are clear, well-reasoned, and persuasive.
