Curtis M. Beloy, PE is an engineering consultant with two decades of vehicle crash reconstruction and defect investigation experience. He analyzes incidents involving all types of vehicles- including cars, motorcycles, bicycles, trucks, electric mobility products, and recreational off-highway vehicles (OHVs). He uses forensic engineering tools for site and vehicle documentation, analysis of electronic data (EDR, videos, telematics), computer simulations, vehicle/ product testing, and animations. He is highly detailed and has testified as an expert witness in depositions, trials, and mediations since 2008. Mr. Beloy is a lifelong enthusiast of motorcycles and powersport vehicles. His career has spanned product development at OEM suppliers, crash analysis at forensic firms, and product defect analysis at a vehicle testing firm. He has evaluated recalls and analyzed crashes involving vehicle stability (wobble, weave, rollover), controls (throttle, steering, brakes), electronic aids (ABS), suspension design, engine and drivetrain failures, and overall vehicle design. He has consulted aftermarket manufacturers on product design and the US Border Patrol on ATV safety. His expert knowledge benefits from real-world insights gained from 25 years of off-road motorcycle racing, vehicle repairs / maintenance, and performance tuning. Mr. Beloy is from the upper Midwest and graduated with honors from Minnesota State University with a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and a board-certified Diplomate in Forensic Engineering (DFE). He is an active member of several industry societies where he has published research, presented at conferences, and keeps current with industry practices. His formal teaching experience includes roles as an Adjunct Physics Professor, STEM instructor, and graduate teaching assistant. He is Principal Engineer and Co-owner of 4Moto Engineers LLC in Madison, Wisconsin and provides consulting services nationwide.
